We ate at this great little Florentine restaurant tonight... Acqua Al 2. Wonderful pasta sampler... tasting of 5 local pastas. Or so they say. Per our concierge, "best steak in Florence". Filet smothered in balsamic. And it was... it was good! Just a cute little local place.

And then we left. And the sign said:

Firenze and SAN DIEGO?! Is it true?! This wonderful small Florentine restaurant is in SAN DIEGO??!??? Shelley, please confirm.
One thing that remains true to Firenze... gelato. Yummo desserto.

California in the house....I just looked up this great little italian restaurant you speak of and YES - its in San Diego...proof?
The original Acqua Al 2 came to life in Florence in 1978. Over the past 23 years the restaurant has become an intimately loved dining establishment by world travelers, local Florentines, and international celebrities. We bring to San Diego the creative Tuscan cuisine and warm hospitality that has made the restaurant famous. Acqua Al 2, in San Diego, uses exactly the same menu as the original restaurant. The Executive Chef, from Florence, spent seven months in San Diego training the staff in the recipes and techniques. The owner, Martin Gonzalez, also spent a year working in the kitchen in Italy. We invite you to sample our authentic cuisine right here in San Diego.
Probably more information than you need right there - but man I'm excited now!!
One day when I do something as cool as all this worthy of my own blog, I will take a picture of me standing in front of the restaurant sign in SDG and post it!!

Man! I'm going to have HNTB send Rich back to work in San Diego so I can go visit and we can go to Acqua Al 2, too! I just know it'll be the same experience as you're having in Florence. Fo Sho.
